WMU (Women's Missionary Union)

The WMU emphasis for 2006-2007 is “Live The Call”.  WMU understands, embraces, and lives the mission of God.  The Lord wants us to “Live the Call” that He has placed on each of our lives.  He wants us to grow in our knowledge of Him.  Our Mission: to inform and inspire individuals to influence their world for Christ.  The Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 tells us that we are to follow Him into the world, demonstrating His love through our words and actions.  Every Christian is called to be actively involved in sharing the good news of Christ, in loving, serving, encouraging, and in making disciples.  The goal of ministry is to bring people into a relationship with Jesus Christ that leads to their acceptance of Him as Savior and Lord.  God’s call is a personal experience for each of us.  Living God’s call is one of the most exciting and challenging experiences any Christ follower can discover.

WMU works with the Pastor and church to provide opportunities for church members of all ages to develop an awareness of missions and participate in mission activities.

There are 5 purposes of WMU:

1. Learn about missions

2. Pray for and give to missions

3. Grow spiritually toward a missions lifestyle

4. Participate in the work of the church and denomination

At Hopewell, there are two primary women’s organizations to carry out these purposes.  Those two groups are WMU and Sisters In Christ.
